Bicycle Lanes
The Action Plan for the Bradenton Beach Scenic Highway developed a Conceptual Master Plan for proposed improvements in June, 2000. Bicycle lanes were placed in the Short Term list to be done 2005-2010.
With the City getting approval for Local Area Project Funding, the project was able to move up to 2003/2004 Grant funding from the Transportation Equity Act Highway Corridor Management and Beautification Funding through the Florida Department of Transportation.
These lanes now connect Holmes Beach to Longboat Key and Bradenton Beach with Manatee County Bike Lanes.
The project design and funding process was completed in late 2003 and the Grant awarded in April, 2004. Construction began in July, 2004 and was completed October 30, 2004.
